Humanitarian Day (HDAY) is a  faith-based response to increase ones gratefulness, humility, and hunger to serve those in need with essential gift items and health services. It is not a day of service but a Life Mission. It unites humanity to assist others overcome local poverty and homelessness.

The sacred month of Ramadan provided the best foundation to host Humanitarian Day. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, when the Holy Quran was revealed and fasting is obligated for those Muslims not exempted. It is a major act of worship where if the prescription is followed, the practitioner cultivates a higher level of awareness and nearness to  God. What better time of year than this is it for the community to intensify its service toward humanity. The spiritual motivation is at an all year high during Ramadan, where Humanitarian Day provides that platform to the community to put their faith into action.

Due to the scale of Humanitarian Day, ILM Foundation collaborated with other organizations to expand its efforts which lead to the formation of the Coalition to Preserve Human Dignity in 2001. Watch an historical video from 2006 here.
