What is Qurbani?

During Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims relive the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail, for the sake of God by slaughtering a goat, sheep, cow or camel.

The is the wisdom behind the meaning of Qurbani which is Sacrifice. The meat from the sacrificial animal (udhiyah) is then distributed to those most in need.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days” Sahih al-Bukhari

When is Qurbani performed?

Qurbani will be performed during Eid al-Adha from the 10th to sunset of the 13thof Dhul Hijjah.  Our team conducts the slaughtering on the 13th to ensure it is after the Eid prayer USA donors. ILM Foundation only distributes fresh Udhiyah.
