ILM RAMADAN FAITH IN ACTION NATIONAL CAMPAIGN 25 FOR 25
ILM Foundation in partnership with Study Al Islam is inviting Muslim communities nationally to coordinate their own Humanitarian Day 2025 Ramadan Event.
Humanitarian Day (HDAY) is one of the largest Ramadan community service events in America. It is more than a day of service, it is an invitation to a life mission of sharing and caring for others. The theme is Rooted in Service Powered by Faith. It was founded during the Month of Mercy when Prophet Muhammad (saw) was the most generous. Ramadan has built in incentives for Muslims to maximize their rewards for their good deeds. It is the blessings of Ramadan that energize this effort year after year.
Other HDAY driving factors are the needs of those in our local communities. A record-high 653,104 people experienced homelessness on a single night in January 2023 according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, 49 million people still relied on food assistance according to Feed America. African Americans are generally at higher risk for heart diseases, stroke, cancer, asthma, influenza, pneumonia, and diabetes according to the Office of Minority Health. The safety net is broken. Its restoration must include people to people and community to people assistance. According to Jabir on the authority of Muslim , Prophet Muhammad said, “The food of one person is enough for two, the food of two is enough for four, and the food of four is enough for eight.”
HDAY is an excellent starting point for communities to start their civic engagement obligation and or add to their existing portfolio of activities. Communities who have participated in the event have seen an increase in volunteerism, youth participation, and leadership training. It can be used to expand your outreach network with other local agencies. Economically, it can potentially increase your funding during Ramadan. Providing needed services to humanity is something all people can embrace.
How can your community become a part of Humanitarian Day? The first step is to complete 25 for 25 campaign interest form. If your community is approved: start with a very solid planning team, understand your target service population, recruit volunteers, and design a marketing plan. Draft a basic event budget along with a well-designed fundraising plan. Finally, capture your HDAY events’ impact to build momentum for next year’s event with professional photographs, video, and feedback from surveys.
